gantree
A personal AI agent you run yourself, and the apps that talk to it.
gantree is open-source software for running your own assistant. There is no hosted service: you (or a friend who runs one for you) start one process on a machine you control, point it at the language model you choose, and talk to it from a web app, a phone, or a chat network. When you connect your Google account it can work with your mail, calendar, contacts, tasks, and documents on your behalf.
The pieces
| ai-gantry | The agent. One process, one persona, one model. It dials out to chat and to Google; it never opens a port. |
| gantry-pendant | The web app and mailbox. Sign in with Google to reach your agent's room from any browser. |
| gantry-cab | Android app (and Android Auto) on the same mailbox. Same Google sign-in. |
| gantry-helm | iPhone app (and CarPlay) on the same mailbox. Same Google sign-in. |
| gantree | The operator console that installs and watches agents. Not part of any chat. |
What it does with your Google account
Signing in (pendant, cab, helm) asks only for your account id, email, and basic profile, to decide which room you may join.
Connecting the agent (/auth google) is a
separate, optional step by the person who runs it. Depending on how it
is configured the agent can:
- Read and search Gmail, and send mail you ask it to send.
- List, create, and update Calendar events and Tasks.
- Look up Contacts to address mail or invite people.
- Read and edit Docs, Sheets, and Drive files you point it at.
- Read YouTube subscriptions and playlists (separate connection).
- Read fitness and health data you have shared with Google (separate connection).
It can also connect Strava and Garmin Connect. Every token is stored only on the machine running the agent. How that data is handled is in the privacy policy.
